We are delighted to announce our re-opening date of 1st October 2020 and we look forward to welcoming back many of our repeat guests as well as new guests to Blue Waters in the near future. We have spent the time during our closure to carefully plan our safe re-opening when the time is right, without compromising on the hospitality & service that the resort is well known for.

 

Due to the new challenges and expectations that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought with it, our mission is to provide a more premium  and memorable Caribbean vacation experience in Antigua while guaranteeing the health and safety of our guests and Team Members.  As a result, we have enhanced our hygiene protocol and guidelines, as well as our service offering, to include contactless cleaning and sanitation solutions, and an enhanced Food & Beverage service to compliment these measures. These measures are designed so that guests feel confident that at Blue Waters they will remain in a safe environment, whilst not distracting from a high quality, relaxing vacation experience.

Arrival into Antigua VC Bird International Airport

Arriving guests (by air) must have a negative COVID-19 taken within 7 days of their arriving flight. Children under 12 years old do not require a COVID-19 test to be taken. Please note for arrivals from 1st August 2021, children from 5 years will also require a negative PCR test.

All arriving guests must wear a face mask on disembarkation of the aircraft and in all public areas in Antigua airport. Additionally, the wearing of face mask in public spaces is mandatory throughout Antigua and Barbuda.

All arriving guests must complete a Health Declaration Form and will be subjected to screening and temperature checks by Port Health Authorities upon arrival in Antigua and Barbuda.

Arrival Experience
Upon arrival at Blue Waters Resort & Spa, a hand sanitizer dispenser affixed to the inner post of the porte-cochere is available for guests’ use.  The sanitizer accessible on the property contains a minimum of 60% alcohol, in accordance with international standards.  Check-in will be conducted by our Front Office team at socially-distanced seating areas in the lobby. (*Please note we are also working on an online check in & concierge facility for guests to check in up to 48 hours prior to arrival)
Rooms, Suites & Villas
Upon arrival and during guests’ stays, all areas of our guest rooms are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to international standard using hospital grade disinfectants paying special attention to high contact areas such as remote controls, door knobs, light switches and all other high touch areas.

Team members are required to always wear personal protective equipment – PPE (masks, gloves and shoe covers) during cleaning to mitigate risk to all guests and team members within the hotel.  Additionally, Room Attendants will sanitize their hands and change all PPE immediately after leaving each room.

In the event that a guest exhibits flu-like or Covid-19-like symptoms, Housekeeping will provide a towel/linen delivery service until a certified medical practitioner clears the guest.  The Blue Waters Resort and Spa has a dedicated team of medical practitioners on call available for our guests.

All departure rooms are completely cleaned and sanitized including ventilation and air conditioning units to reduce any risk of cross-contamination to guests and team members.

We will no longer offer our Superior Hillside or Hillside Junior Suite rooms for the remainder of 2020 and 2021. This is to enable us to manage our occupancy to a safe level, and provide the enhanced housekeeping service detailed above

Laundry Services
In accordance with our stringent internal protocols, guests’ personal items are always washed separately to limit any risk of cross-contamination.  Guest room linens and towels are washed using only the highest quality chemicals at the highest permissible temperatures to ensure thorough cleaning and therefore eliminate risk to our guests and team members.
Restaurants and Bars
There will be hand sanitizer stations at all restaurant entrances and in proximity of all bars and lounges.  At Blue Waters Resort & Spa we will only offer specially created à la carte menus for each restaurant and meal period.

Team members will be equipped with supplies for continuous cleaning and sanitizing of high contact areas such as chairs, tables and bar counters.

All table settings will be thoroughly sanitized by our teams before and after each use following international standards.  All cutlery, plates and glassware are washed in an industrial grade dishwasher and will be sanitized before and after each use, as per local and international standards.

Blue Waters is perfectly designed for social distancing due to our large dining outlets, multiple bars and variety of restaurants, pools and beaches spread across the resort.  For breakfast, lunch and dinner, all restaurants will have a reduced capacity in order to facilitate social distancing between tables.  The same social distancing protocols will be applied between bar stools, bar lounging area tables and beach/pool loungers.

The Spa at Blue Waters
Social distancing protocols will be applied in the Spa waiting area and to the Spa pool loungers.  Hand sanitizer dispensers will be placed at the entrance for incoming and outgoing guests and Team Members.  Hand sanitizer stations will also be located at the Spa’s reception desk, at the refreshment area and near the pool.  Pool loungers and surrounding contact areas will be will be sanitized several times daily.

Treatment rooms will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each treatment, in addition the rooms will not be booked back to back to allow time for proper cleaning and sanitization to occur.

The salon will reduce the number of simultaneous services to ensure social distancing protocols are adhered.

Water Sports
Team members will sanitize all equipment before and after guest use as well as before and after lessons with guests.  A hand sanitizer dispenser will be located in the Water Sports hut for guest use.
Gift Shop
Team members will clean the countertop & high touch areas multiple times per day with disinfectant.  Guests are to observe social distancing while in the shop and assistance from our attendants is encouraged.  A hand sanitizer dispenser will be in the Gift Shop.
Kids’ Club
We recognize that our kids club & creche facilities will not be able to adhere to social distancing regulations, so we have made the decision to close the facility temporarily until the end of 2021

Pre-booked babysitting services can be offered in room for a charge payable locally. All babysitting staff will undergo the health & safety procedures set out below under ‘team’

Fitness Center & Activities
Guests are encouraged to adhere to social distancing protocols and sanitize exercise equipment before and after use with the sanitizing solution and wipes provided.  Additionally, hand sanitizing dispensers will be provided, and the Fitness Center will be sanitized by our team regularly on a schedule.

We will continue to provide a comprehensive activities programme for guests including wellness & culinary activities and these activities will have a reduced maximum capacity to adhere to social distancing.

Public Areas
Increased resort wide sanitization schedules have been implemented in an effort to reduce the risk of contamination on high touch and high traffic communal areas. Increased frequency of scheduled cleaning and sanitizing by public area attendants to include pools, lounges, gazebos, furniture, door knobs, light switches, door handles, the Spa, the Fitness Center, all dining & lounge areas, and all other areas frequented by both guests and team members.

Hand sanitizer stations will be affixed around all public areas for guest.

Blue Waters Team
To protect our team members and guests, team members will undergo a temperature check before the start of each shift, before entering the property.  Those showing flu-like symptoms will be sent for medical evaluation.  Hand sanitizer will be provided for incoming and outgoing Team Members and all team members must wash their hands before the start of their shifts and continuously throughout the time at work.

Shared equipment and tools will be disinfected before each shift handover.

Sensor-activated taps and hand sanitizer dispensers will be installed in bathrooms.  All Team Members will be required to wear face masks where necessary and in accordance with local legislation, for the protection of our guests, fellow Team Members and for their own protection.

All Team Members will receive orientation on newly implemented hygiene protocols as well as on-going training on hygiene and sanitation practices such as frequent hand washing, use of hand sanitizer, proper usage and disposal of personal protection equipment (PPE).  Team members are also reminded of these practices through the display of signage in back of house areas and offices.

Communication
We firmly believe that transparency and communication are of utmost importance in order to keep us all safe and healthy during this period of Covid-19.  Should a guest or team member feel unwell, or be concerned about another person displaying flu-like symptoms, he/she should communicate this to a resort manager immediately so that the appropriate measures can be taken.  In the case of a potentially infected guest, he/she will be asked to self-isolate and a certified medical practitioner will then be called immediately.  In the case of a team member, he/she will be asked to stay or return home and self-isolate until an all-clear can be given by a certified medical practitioner.
